Die Welt

Today we went to "Die Welt" which is one of the biggest Newspapers in Germany. We got a lot of information about the newspaper system in Germany and one topic that really caught my attention was how "Die Welt" approaches the problem. Since young people are actually the once who are going to create later the readers of newspapers they try to introduce a hipper version of the newspapers with young people which is called "Die Welt Kompakt."

This is supposed to hook young people to the newspaper and to get them to read "Die Welt" in their later age. In addition, they started to print codes to articles where you can take a picture of it with your phone so you can receive the whole article on your cell phone. I think it is a very good idea, because young people do a lot with their phones and might find it easier to get the article send to their phone to read it.

After our tour through Die Welt we went to RBB which is an independent local broadcaster. In difference to the US they finance their station with money people have to pay if their own a TV and watch TV. Since they are an local independent Station they don't have any Advertisers who advertise with them. I think it was a really great day and I learned a lot :)
