Doeners, Cameras and Bikes

Today was a really exciting and adventures day. We saw a lot of Berlin and got a lot of information about the German history. First, we went to the Bundestag which is the German Parliament. Since, we are from Lincoln ;) we got a special tour through the building where the German government has their meetings. It was amazing to see how it looks when you don't see it on TV and we got to see a lot of rooms which are not open for everybody. Our Tour guide told us that there is a lot of Art to see in the Bundestag (der Bundestag is still called by some people Reichstag). One was representing the colors of the German Flag but didn't have exactly the same colors and the shape of the flag, but we learned this is meant to trick you mind so you are actually seeing it as the flag while it isn't the flag. (that's what our Tour guide said which I thought was funny because we knew it isn't the flag and just represents it :) )
After that we went to get some food which meant "Doener Time", because "Doener macht Schoener" :). The group was quite impressed with the Turkish version of a Gyros. Doener Kebap tastes in my opinion much better and taste delicious for 2.50 Euros.
That's how we refilled our power resources to be able to ride the bike for 3 hours on our bike tour through Berlin. We had a scotish girl who was our Tour Guide and I have to say she did a really good job in explaining what was going on in East and West Berlin. I enjoyed it a lot and I think we all learned a lot. We went to a lot of places but one that impressed me was the Humbold University where Hitler burn all the books which didn't support the Nazis. No books were a lot from Jewish and other thinking people than the Nazis. The memorial is in the ground and shows the empty book shelves under the building. I think that was really empressing.
It was a really great day and a very long one which means I'm ready to refill my tanks for tomorrow :) for another amazing day in Berlin.
