Home Sweet Home

I have officially been home for almost two days now and I think my body is confused. The past two mornings I woke up at 5:30am...and I NEVER wake up that early without an alarm. I also feel very lazy and bored; I'm attributing this to my lack of walking all day and no more packed itinerary. I miss having places to go and things to do every day. I thought that I would enjoy doing absolutely nothing once I got home but the truth is that I feel slightly lost. This will all change soon as I start two classes in the first five week session but for now I miss the hustle and bustle of Germany. I miss my new friends in the group, cafes, awesome sights, new experiences, and Euros. I know that because I had such a great time in Europe I will be going back someday...hopefully soon...but for now all I can do is reminisce with photos and souvenirs. Being home has its benefits but this new life style will take some getting used to again. Until we meet for our grand reunion I say danke for the memories and tschuss!

I have been waking up every morning at 5:30 as well. I'm hoping that ends soon!

I totally feel your pain with this! I got home Sunday (after going back to the airport at 6 to see if my luggage was on the other flight) and went out to eat. I think the adrineline from being back and seeing all of my friends was a positive thing, because I wasn't feeling sleepy yet. I got home from dinner around 8:30 and talked with my roommates for a while and then checked my email and started watching TV. After about fifteen minutes of sitting on my couch I decided it was time to go to bed (around 10:30). The next morning I woke up at 6:30 and that is how it's been for the past two days. It doesn't matter what time I go to bed, I always wake up around 6:30!

I also miss having things to do everyday. I think I'm really getting on my roommates nerves because every day I suggest we go on a bike ride or walk around downtown....I guess they will just have to get used to it until I get back into my "normal" routine!

This past week I've been getting up at 8:30 a.m. no matter how late I get to bed. My appetite schedule was also thrown off and I was getting hungry at odd hours of the night. Thankfully, my sleep and eating cycles are almost back to normal.

Emma, I can identify with your need for bike rides and walks! Since coming back from Germany, I've rode my bike from my apartment on 23rd Street to campus a few times even though I could have easily taken the bus. Do you live near campus? Maybe we could go on a bike ride together some day =).

I miss our trips, too! I'm still in Hannover but my schedule has slowed down tremendously. I haven't been on my bike lately because it's raining a lot and it's kind of cold. Hopefully the next couple of days will be nice.
